Helmut Krcmar is a Full Professor of Information Systems and holds the Chair for Information Systems at the Computer Science Department at Technische Universität München (TUM) since 2002. In addition he holds appointments to the TUM Business School and to the "Carl von Linde-Akademie" at TUM. He is member of the Program Faculty and Board of the Bavarian Graduate Program "Finance and Information Management" and Board Member of the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) at TUM and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the IBM Los Angeles Scientific Center, as Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Leonard Stern School of Business, New York University, and at Baruch College, City University of New York. From 1987 to 2002 he was Chair for Information Systems, Hohenheim University, Stuttgart and served as Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration. He is founder of Informations-und TechnologieManagement Beratungsgesellschaft (ITM) and co-founder of several technology-related spin-offs. Since 2009 he is Scientific Co-Director of MS2I, the Munich Software and Systems Institute at TUM. He has widely published in his research areas of information and knowledge management, IT-enabled value webs, service management, computer-supported cooperative work, and information systems in health care and e-government.
